You Can Make a Difference!

I’m not sure moving through life would be that exciting or meaningful if I/we didn’t believe that that we can make a difference in the world around us. However, I think that most people are moving through life not with purpose, not with a plan, but thinking, “what do I have to offer.” This makes me sad and angry at the same time.

I don’t know who it was that told you, you can’t or won’t make a difference, but they are wrong and the only reason they say that to you is because they think it about themselves. Are people hungry in Africa. Lacking clothes in Mexico. Need clean water in Ecuador. Being abused in your city. Lonely next door to your house. Sad in your bedroom. You can change that. YOU, YES YOU can make a difference. If you don’t think so, I want to talk to you. I want to buy you a cup of coffee or a glass of glorious diet coke and help you open your eyes again to the world around you and the ability that you have to make a part of it beautiful again.

You were not created to float along wherever the tide flows. You have a chance a short 70 years to make an impact… and you can start right now. You can dream now. You can speak for those without a voice, feed those who don’t have enough to eat, hold those who are alone in a crib in a small village in an obscure country. Read to those who don’t know how to. YES YOU.

I’m reading a lot more these days. And today I read from Winners Never Cheat this:

“Each of us has a stake in the accomplishments and failures of those around us; each of us holds an interest in the deeds of others. When one person beautifies a neighborhood, the entire community is enhanced.”

What neighborhood are you going to impact? Let’s not waste another week. Start dreaming today, start acting tomorrow.
